Pattaya, 31 April 2010, [Pattaya Daily News]: At 0.10am police were informed of a robbing incident on Pattaya Beach Road, involving a lady-boy robbing a tourist who was subsequently caught. The incident occurred at the beginning of Soi 13/1, Pattaya Beach Road, South Pattaya. A police reaction team was sent to the location led by Police Captain Narongdet Tanaphoonsin (Pattaya Police Investigator).

The team arrived to find Mr. Khalil Saeisarab [33], an Iranian national, and his friends had performed a citizen’s arrest on a katoey thief, identified as Obchoei Sriraksa [20] from Khonkaen, who was wearing a woman’s dress and who had stolen US$100 from the victim.

Questioning Mr. Saeisarab, police were told that whilst he and friends were taking a walk along the Pattaya beach Road approaching Soi 13/, 4-5 lady-boys came to offer them ‘sexual services with snuggling’. Mr. Saeisarab and friends tried to walk away, at which point he felt a lady-boy picking his pocket and passing the money along to his other lady-boys in the gang, before running away. Mr. Saeisarab said that he and friends chased after the offender and managed to catch Mr. Sriraksa with the US$100 bill. The alleged thief claimed that the rest of the cash stolen had been given to his gang. The victim subsequently informed police of the theft.

Mr. Sriraksa was duly arrested and taken down to the police station, charged with theft. Police are checking his and the other gang members’ criminal records and hope to apprehend those in the gang who escaped.
