On 2 October 2007, at 5 PM, Pattaya Police Lieutenant Santi Ahai-niranam was notified that a bomb was left in front of an auto repair garage, with no name, near Bpo-tisarn Market, Moo 4, Naklua, Banglamung, Chonburi; and rushed to investigate.
At the scene, police found an M67 bomb at the foot of a pillar at the car repair garage. The garage was owned by Mr. Chatchai Thanakarn (25). The bomb was ready to detonate. Police cordoned off the area so they could examine the explosive and encased the bomb with rubber tires. They, then, immediately contacted Captain Somkuan Sangthong, from the Sattahip Naval Base, who is an expert in bomb deactivation. It took about thirty minutes to deactivate the bomb. One of the safety pins had been removed from the bomb, but the inner pin for activation didn’t function. Otherwise, it might have exploded.

Mr. Chatchai said that he had closed the garage so he could take a break. His mechanic, Mr. Theerayut (28), arrived later to open the garage. Mr. Theerayut found the bomb. In addition, Mr. Chatchai received a threatening SMS message to his mobile phone on 1 October. Mr. Chatchai suspects that the bomb was planted by a Mr. Beer, who took his BMW in for repair and to set up a sound system. Mr. Beer was charged 300,000 baht for the work. However, after Mr. Beer took the car for a test drive, he was dissatisfied with the quality of the work and asked for a discount, which Mr. Chatchai refused to grant. This resulted in an argument and some harsh words.

Police investigators found out that at 4 PM, the same day, two suspicious men, on a grey motorbike, were hanging around in front of the garage. They were possibly the perpetrators who left the bomb at the garage. Fortunately, the bomb didn’t explode and there was no damage or injury.
