LOPBURI – April 23, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; Details of an apparent psychopath arrested for a brutal murder were announced at a press conference by Pol. Col. Kittisak Ketaram, director of Tawung police station, Lopburi.

The suspect was identified as Mr. Boonchuai Yanthoop, 35 years old. He is charged with the murder of a 43-year-old female factory worker. After brutally killing her, he burned the corpse in her house. Then he beat her 9-year-old daughter until she passed out.
Afterwards, he ran to hide at Nongping temple, Kokekratiam, Muanlopburi, where he was later arrested by the police.

Police found that the suspect was a local resident with no job, and he lived in a house near the crime scene. He had a police record of drug arrests, and had been charged with killing people before.

He confessed that he had intended to rape the victim, but she protested, so he killed her. He was afraid of being caught by the police, so he burned the corpse to hide his crime. He also claimed that he was not quite mentally normal, and he did it while he wasn’t himself.

While the police officers were having the press conference, more than 100 angry residents came to the police station, so the police arranged for officers to protect the man, because they were afraid of him getting beaten by the crowd.
