PATTAYA – September 22, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 2:30 a.m., during a heavy downpour, a Pattaya reporter saw a ladyboy walk into the Pattaya police station carrying a bag of clothes and a handbag. The ladyboy asked to see Pol. Lt. Col. Seksan Reuvate, Inspector, Pattaya police station, Chonburi province, the officer on duty.

Then the ladyboy took out 2 amphetamine tablets in a clear plastic bag to give to Pol. Lt. Col. Seksan. The ladyboy then asked the officer to arrest him and send him to jail because of the drugs. So the officer inspected the amphetamines and found that they were real, so he seized the pills as evidence, and restrained the ladyboy for possessing the amphetamines according to the law.

The ladyboy’s name is Mr. Tiwa Akhard or Nam, age 29, address 15 Moo 11 Tambon Baan Dong, Amphur Ubonrat, Khonkaen province. During questioning, Mr. Tiwa said that he brought the amphetamines to the police because he wanted the police to arrest him. No one was forcing him to do it because Mr. Tiwa wanted to be in jail.

Mr. Tiwa then told the surprised police officer his story. Mr. Tiwa was a ladyboy who sold sexual service to the tourists at Pattaya beach and the entertainment centers in Pattaya. But he also had been pickpocketing tourists on Pattaya beach to steal their property, so he was arrested and sent to jail for 9 months.

He was sent to Pattaya’s special prison in Tambon Nong Plalai, Amphur Banglamung, Chonburi province. There he met with the young men prisoners in the prison until he had four or five boyfriends. But he ended his relationships with all of them.

Then one day he met a young prisoner named Mr. Mong, who is from Amphur Sattahip, Chonburi province. Mr. Mong was serving a 5-year sentence for a drug conviction, and had already been in jail for 3 years. Mr. Mong took care of Mr. Tiwa so well that they fell in love and became lovers to take care of each other in the prison.

Mr. Tiwa loved Mr. Mong so much until time passed, and 7 months later, Mr. Tiwa was forgiven for his punishment on Mother’s Day August 12, 2012. He was released from jail at the end of August. But his boyfriend was still in prison.

Mr. Mong also gave 8,000 THB cash for Mr. Tiwa to spend. So Mr. Tiwa left for home and felt really appreciated for his boyfriend’s good heart for him. After leaving from jail, Mr. Tiwa went back to see his parents in his hometown. He intended to be a good person and work honestly. But after a while, he felt lonely and could only think about Mr. Mong all the time.

So Mr. Tiwa returned to Pattaya to find work to do. Every day he went to visit Mr. Mong at the prison. But when Mr. Tiwa went back selling his sexual services in Pattaya, he had very few customers. This caused him extreme stress, because the money Mr. Mong had given him was almost used up.

So Mr. Tiwa realized that he wanted to go back to live with his boyfriend in jail again. So he went to visit his boyfriend, and told Mr. Mong that he wanted to go back to jail to live with him. But his boyfriend forbade him to do it, and said not to even think about it.

He said to Mr. Tiwa that his loneliness has to be endured, because after Mr. Mong gets out from jail, then they can be together again. They dreamed together that they will leave Pattaya to live in another place, and spend life together until they die.

But Mr. Tiwa could not endure his loneliness and could not stop thinking about his boyfriend — he could not live alone in society. So Mr. Tiwa consulted with his friend to find a way to go back to live with his boyfriend in jail. But his friend also forbade him, and warned him not to think like that.

But Mr. Tiwa thought for a long time, and decided to find the way to go back to live with his boyfriend in jail. So he let his friend buy 2 amphetamine tablets for him, and hurried to pack his clothes to prepare to live in jail.

Then he brought the amphetamines to take to the Pattaya police station to have the police arrest him. On the way to the police station, Mr. Tiwa carried the amphetamines carefully, because he was afraid that the tablets would get wet from the rain, and then he will not have the amphetamines to show to the police to arrest him.

Mr. Tiwa also said that he decided to bring only 2 amphetamine tablets to the police because he knew that to have 2 tablets of amphetamine will only cause him to be in jail not more than 3 months. If he brought more than 2 tablets, he might be in jail for a long time. Or if he had instead committed some other crime, he might have been sentenced to jail for a long time, which he could not endure.

But the only reason that Mr. Tiwa wanted to be in jail was to live with his boyfriend again. Mr. Tiwa knew that once he was arrested, his boyfriend would probably feel shock or surprise surely, and then Mr. Mong will scold at him, which Mr. Tiwa was ready to accept.

Still, Mr. Tiwa was also afraid that he would not be staying in the same area as his boyfriend in prison. If they end up living in different areas and not see each other, Mr. Tiwa will die, surely.

Mr. Tiwa gave to the police officer and the journalist a picture of Mr. Mong, his boyfriend, to confirm that he spoke the truth. Mr. Tiwa didn’t want to be in jail to do other things, but because he felt lonely, and could only think of his boyfriend. He wanted to stay with him because Mr. Mong is a very good man that Mr. Tiwa loved with all of his heart.

Mr. Tiwa could not live alone, and he only committed this drug crime to live with his boyfriend. Mr. Tiwa made this choice to get arrested, and likely will not do it again surely, because no one wants to be in jail repeatedly for a long time.

Pol. Lt. Col. Seksan revealed that he felt so surprised with this event, and he never dreamed anyone would want to be in jail and bring drugs to police to get arrested. Mr. Tiwa confirmed that he didn’t use drugs, and only brought the amphetamines so he could get arrested and live with his boyfriend again, which although his reason is so strange — but it is the truth.

The police officer had to arrest and charge Mr. Tiwa for possessing a Type-1 drug (amphetamine), and sent him to be prosecuted according to the law.
