Local TV Reporter is Shot Dead in Chonburi

Two men were killed and one survived from gun shots after a confrontation with a gang member in Chonburi.

Chonburi, 18th September 2010 [Pattaya Daily News] At 02.45 am, Chonburi Police Investigator was notified by Chonburi hospital that three men had been admitted with gunshot wounds. One had been transferred to Ekachol Hospital while the other two, one in a serious condition and the other with minor injuries were being treated there.

The police team rushed to investigate the incident at the hospital where they found Mr. Athipat or Bank (24) with two gunshot wounds to his leg, and Mr. Teerarak or A. Suwannapoh, a local TV reporter of Channel 7 TV, who suffered shots to his head and unfortunately did not survive.

The third man Mr. Sutep Baoklee [18] had been shot in his chest and later died at the Ekachol Hospital.

Lieutenant Colonel Sukitti Sawaikiet a Chonburi Police Superintendant revealed that the incident took place at the front of the Bizzie Pub located at 126/269, Moo 3, Baan Suan, Chonburi which was a popular venue with local teenagers

Mr. Athipat or Bank, the surviving victim said the shooting happened after the pub closed. He stated that he and two other friends, walked from the pub and found another group of his friends embroiled in an argument with a group of men, led by Mr. Supachok Kosolchai, [29] and a well known local man alias “Choke Bangsai”, [29], from Nongmaidang, Chonburi.

Mr. Athipat said the problem seemed to be a very small issue. He and his reporter friend intended to help clear up the problem but unexpectedly, Mr. Supachok Kosolchai pulled out a 9mm gun, shooting him and his friends before escaping on a motorbike with two men who were waiting for him.

Police have photos of the suspects and are confident they will be brought to justice.
