Loan Shark Assaults Female

Pattaya police have arrested a loan shark who assaulted a female debtor breaking her left arm in the process after she hadn’t repaid her debt.

PATTAYA – June 10,2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 1.00 p.m., Pol.Col. Sukthas Phoomphanmuang (Superintendent of Pattaya city police station, Chon Buri Province), Pol.Lt.Col. Somphan Suksamran (Deputy Superintendent) and a detective police team together made a statement about the arrest of Mr. Manas Choon-im, aged 31, residing at house no. 166/2, Moo 7 Tambon Mae Lay, Amphur Mae Wong, Nakhon Sawan Province, who was charged with assault.


Upon investigating Miss Duangduean then she told the police that within the last 3 months she had asked Mr Manas Choo-im a loan shark for 20,000 THB. She had already paid back 15,000 THB and only had 5,000 THB remaining. Before the incident occurred she phoned Mr Manas in order to make an appointment with him to come and collect the remaining 5,000 THB but he didn’t answer his phone. Soon after when Miss Duangduean was walking past the entrance to the Beverly Plaza Hotel Mr. Manas jumped out and assaulted her breaking her left are in the process which was witnessed by many foreign tourists and the attack was also caught on CCTV.


The police then arrested Mr. Manas at his home before they took him to the police station where confessed to assaulting Miss Duangduean because she hadn’t repaid her debt.


The police then charged Mr. Manas with assault and causing physical harm and mental harm to others. He was then sent to the inquiry official for prosecution according to the Thai law.
