Learning Thai Cooking at Nah-Thai Culinary Arts

On October 2st 2011, Nah Pah – Thai Culinary Arts Cooking School at the Royal Cliff Hotels Group was bustling with creative culinary energy. Outfitted in their Royal Cliff aprons and chef hats, Mr. Rodolphe Laque and his group of 13 visitors took the first steps towards learning the art of Thai cooking.

Mr. Larque first came to know about the Royal Cliff’s cooking school through the charity community which Royal Cliff participates in and wrote in to ask if a group of 13 people could learn the basis of Thai cooking from the Royal Cliff’s Thai chefs. After a short period of communicating with the hotel and making the arrangements, Mr. Larque and his group arrived, eager to start a day of cooking.

From 9 am to 12 noon, they learned how simple it is to prepare local favourites and how delicious their creations turned out. The group was first shown the fundamental steps to cooking a dish, after which the participants are then guided step by step on cooking up the same dish by themselves. Royal Cliff’s Chef Nikon and Chef Meang had assembled a mouth-watering menu which included Thailand’s most popular dish, the ‘Tom Yam Kung’ (spicy seafood soup), steamed fish with lime & ginger, Pha-Naeng Moo (curry with pork), baked mussels and local Thai banana flambé.

The group then had the delight of enjoying their own cooked dishes in a Thai-inspired dining room within the cooking school. As for every participant who learns cooking at the Royal Cliff, the group received the ‘Thai Culinary Arts’ certificate for their accomplishment. In order to appreciate the essence of Thai cooking, and for the group to continue with this fantastic activity or to continue refining their new cooking abilities, the Royal Cliff also presented each member of the group with a ‘spices & herbs gift basket’ consisting of aromatic spices, herbs and curry paste most commonly used in Thai cooking.

Nah Pah – Thai Culinary Arts is about discovering the uniqueness of authentic Thai dishes and delightfully exploring Thailand’s traditional cuisine. Cooking sessions are available every day except Thursdays and Fridays, and a different set of menus are introduced for each day.
