Pattaya, the 10th of May 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: At approximately 4:00am, Banglamung police investigators were notified that a pair of young Laotian women had been seen sitting on the footpath along Sukhumvit Road in a distressed state. Suspecting that the women had been staying illegally in the Kingdom a police team was despatched to the scene immediately.

On arrival at the location, in Naklua, police were confronted by Miss Nok [16] and her sister Miss Kaew [14]. Both the girls were in an extremely distressed state, crying for help in returning to their home country of Laos. Miss Nok revealed that they had been left at the location by their Thai employer who had kept them as maids in his family home, but had dumped them at the scene after no longer requiring their services.

The sister revealed to police that they had been staying illegally in Thailand after having come across the border with 60 other people in order to gain employment. Through the use of a human trafficking agent they were able to acquire jobs as house maids for a Thai man, but could not say where they had been staying. The girls explained that they had been working for the Thai man for two months without pay when he decided to dispense with their services by leaving them on the Sukhumvit Road in Naklua at approximately 2:00am on Monday.

Officers subsequently escorted the victims to the Banglamung Police Station where they will be processed as illegal aliens in the Kingdom of Thailand before being repatriated back to Laos.
