Land Slide Kills Russian Mother But Daughter Survives

A land slide which happened in Phetchaburi province after heavy rain has killed a 36-year-old Russian woman but her 6-year-old daughter survived.

PHETCHABURI – October 6, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 1.00 p.m., Pol.Lt.(Woman) Sunisa Nakchai (Inquiry official of Cha-am police station, Amphur Cha-am, Phetchaburi province) was notified that there was an accident where a land slide in the area of Abode of Phra Norn Na Kwang Cave, Moo 2 Tambon Na Yang, Amphur Cha-am, Phetchaburi province, so she informed the superior and rushed to inspect at scene together with rescuers of Sawang Sanphetchaya Tharmma Satharn Foundation and officers of Cha-am hospital.

 

An incident point close to Phra Na Kwang Cave Mountain which there were many big rocks that had fallen from a mountaintop and covered 2 restrooms completely destroying them. Also a tamarind tree had fallen onto 2 parsonages damaging them severely and a red car which had also be turned over by the land slide. The officers found 2 injured foreign female victims who were identified as Mrs. Bakibva Alsiya or Lila, aged 36, Russian nationality who was severely injured and her 6-year-old daughter of Mrs. Lila who was also injured. Therefore, the rescuers performed first aid on them before rushing them to Cha-am hospital where Mrs. Lila later died.

 

Upon questioning Mr. Sophon Saenmee, aged 40, who is a construction worker he told the officers that before incident occurred it was very wet and windy when he heard a very loud noise on a mountaintop so he and other bystanders rushed to the area and found that there had been a land slide. After that Mr. Sophon and monk Simon rushed to help the injured where they found Mrs. Lila face down and her daughter lying on her back, so they moved them to safety before calling the police.

 

The police had assigned the rescuers to take Mrs. Lila’s corpse to be kept at Tharm Kaew temple, Amphur Mueang, Phetchaburi province, and will coordinate with the Russian embassy in order to take Mrs. Lila’s corpse and an injured daughter back to Russia.
