Krabi Governor Orders Crack Down On Fraudulent Tour Packages

Krabi Governor, ordered government offices and private sectors to solve the tour scam problems where people have booked tour packages which have been fraudulent. There have been more than 10,000 cases at a cost of around 30 million baht.

KRABI – March 31,2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; City Hall , Prasit Osathanon, Krabi governor called a meeting with the concerned agencies both public and private sectors to seek remedies to resolve the cases of fraudulent tour packages where customers arrive at a hotel to find no record of their reservation.

The tourists who have fell victim to this scam have contacted the police at Muang Krabi police station; there have been around 130 cases. Mr.Prasit revealed that the troublesome tour company is located in Ao Nang, Krabi, but they had booths selling cheap tour packages in various areas in many provinces , such as in Bkk, where it was located in Muang Thong Thani Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre .

Krabi governor said that the incident had caused damage to Krabi’s tourism which had affected its image a lot because there were at least 10,000 cases of fake tour packages bought at a total cost of around 30 million baht.

Pol.Col.Pruttipong Nutchanart, director of Krabi police station said after the police had been informed about the incident he had sent detectives to question the victims and gather all the evidence for a petition to be sent to the court to issue a warrant to arrest the company on charges of fraud.
