SATTAHIP – February 19, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 12:15 a.m., a report of a foreigner killing herself by jumping off a building was received by Pol. Lt. Capt. Nipon Nonekluea, the detective officer of Najomthian police station.

Police went to check the scene with the rescuers from Sawangrojana Thammasathan Sattahip. The incident occurred at 7-story Saisawan beach resort, moo 1, Najomthian, Sattahip.

At the scene, police found the body of the victim, lying on her back near the fountain bow at the ground floor terrace. She was wearing a blue Thai-style blouse and orange cropped pants. Her neck was broken, and her head was stuck on the rim of the bow. There were no signs she had been beaten or killed. The spot where her body was found was directly underneath her 2nd-floor room.

The victim was identified as Mrs. Soonnam Kim, 57 years old, from South Korea. Rescuers sent her to the forensic department to find the real cause of death, and informed the embassy to contact her relatives to take her body.

Police questioned the tour guide, identified as Mr. Wicharnsit Suttiwiriyakul, 30 years old. He said that the victim and her husband had come to Thailand on February 16. That morning, the woman acted like she was mentally sick, crying and shouting absurdly, so the tour guide told her to rest in her room.

Then without warning, she had later jumped to her death. Mr. Wicharnsit suspects the victim may have been suffering from a mental illness, and had sought release from her inner torment.
