At 2.00 pm., 6 October, 2008, Pol.Col.Noppadol Wongnorm, Pattaya Superintendent, announced to the press that they had arrested the murder suspect, Mr. Sarayut aka Tai Juttano (23), a kratoey, at his hometown in Wangsapung, Leoy Province, who was a close friend of the victim.

According to witnesses, on the day the crime occurred, they saw Mr. Sarayut visit Mrs. Wannigar Boondee, the victim, in her room. Following up the reports, police searched the victim’s room and found evidence which led them to ask for a warrant from Pattaya Court to arrest Mr. Sarayut.

Mr. Sarayut, the suspect, confessed to the murder and told the police that Miss Wannigar had given him 1000 baht to buy Yah-Ice, but he could not find any, so she told him to buy Yah Bah instead. Mr. Sarayut said he searched for Yah Bah for her, too, but he could not find any of that either. When she asked for her money back, he told her that he had spent all the money and was unable to return it.

At this point, Miss Wannigar became very angry and they started to fight. He grabbed a knife and threatened her, but she ran at him and tried to grab the knife. In their struggles, he stabbed her once in the back of her neck and once on her collarbone. She then fell to the floor, writhing in pain, so he decided to use a telephone wire to strangle her.

After killing her, he took her gold necklace and three mobile phones. He sold all the items for 13,000 Baht and then ran away to hide in his hometown. Mr. Sarayut will be charged with attempted murder.
