Pattaya police have arrested Waiyawut Sirsuwan, nicknamed Tua Naklua, age 26, and charged him with dealing in Yah Ice, a methamphetamine. At the time of his arrest, Waiyawut was out on bail, after being charged with the murder of former jet ski world champion, Teerawat Lahhip in March of last year.

Waiyawut claimed that his Yah Ice dealing was motivated by his need to raise money for his court fight against the murder charge.
The arrest occurred on 6 August 2007, at 1 AM. Police Colonel Sarayut Sagnuenbhokai received information that an illegal drug delivery would take place at a house with no number in Soi Khao-Noi, Moo 5, Nongprue, Banglamung, Chonburi. On learning of the delivery, he then rushed out with an investigative team to make the arrest.

At the scene, police spread out to enclose the area. At the time when the delivery was expected, the team spotted Waiyawut in a grey Honda City with the license plate ending in 2363. As police approached to make the arrest, someone alerted him, and he sped away. Police followed in hot pursuit and rammed his car. They arrested him in front of Chokechai 4 village, about 500 meters from the delivery spot.

When captured, Waiyawut, who resides at 350, Moo 4, Naklua, Banglamung, Chonburi, allegedly had in his possession 14 bags of Yah Ice (methamphetamine), with a total weight 13.2 grams. Police also found 7,500 Baht cash, a 15-gram gold necklace, a gold ring and two mobile phones.

According to police, Waiyawut confessed to buying Yah Ice from a friend in Chonburi. They said that his practice was to buy at least 10 grams of the drug at a cost of some 40,000 baht. He would then deliver it to other smaller drug dealers in Pattaya. Waiyawut claimed that he was selling Yah Ice to raise funds for his legal battle against a murder charge. Last year, he and a friend were charged with killing Teerawat Lahhip, age 22, former jet ski world champion from Pattaya’s Flamingo Team. He posted bail in the case last March and awaits trial.

Police say that Waiyawut had been acting like a gangster since posting bail. They have arrested him several times on drug take and drug possession charges. Police believe that he is guilty not only of the murder charge but also of being a major drug dealer in the area. They are optimistic of getting convictions in both cases.
