At 1pm, on Dec 5, 2008, Pol.Lt.Col. Bamrung Rakbamrungsakul of Sattahip Police was notified by Mr. Amnuay Luengwilai (60), that a Khmer worker had been murdered and buried in tapioca field, located at Moo 5, Plutaluang, Sattahip, Chonburi. Doctor Rames Amphaipis, the Sattahip Hospital Director, and Rojanathamasathan Rescue were immediately sent to the incident scene.

At the Plutaluang tapioca field, located by the 10th km marker pole, 3 kilometres from Sukhumvit Road, the deceased body of Mr. Man (25), a Khmer worker, was found buried one metre deep under the ground. He had been stabbed in the stomach by a sharp iron object. His right wrist and head had been severely slashed, to the degree that his neck had been almost chopped off. The police assessed he had been dead for 6 hours. There was a pool of blood and 3 pairs of slippers on the ground about 20 metres away from the body. Rojanathamasatarn Rescue immediately transferred the deceased’s body to Sattahip Hospital for an autopsy.

Mr. Amnuay Luengwilai, the victim’s employer, told police that at 5am, he’d heard the sound of argument between the workers. Later the same day, he found Mr. Man was missing and had a report from a worker that there was a pool of blood in the tapioca field 20 metres away, the deceased body of Mr. Man was found buried in a newly dug hole in the ground.

Mr. Amnuay recalled that the slippers found at the incident scene belonged to some of the other Khmer workers. He then led the police to search the workers’ camp, but the suspects had run away as soon as they had seen the authorities.

Pol.Lt.Col. Banrung stated the police , with Rojanathamasathan Rescue, had immediately encircled the area, expecting to make an arrest, imminently. Police assume the motive of the killing was robbery because Mr. Man had quite a bit of money, and all his property was all missing.
