Under interrogation, Miss Wabui revealed that she had been instructed by an African drug dealer to transport the narcotics from the West African nation of Mali. She stated that the intended destination of the consignment was the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh.

Initially Miss Wabui did not reveal how much she was to be paid for her efforts however; it is suspected that the large sum of money found in her luggage may have been a payment or part payment for the deal. The estimated street value of the illicit drugs comes to Bt7.6 million.
