Kenyan Runners Swept Pattaya Marathon 2007 (Male) Trophies

Like every year, the racing started at 4.20 am to avoid the warmth and humidity of the day. Kenyan runners are again dominated the main Pattaya Marathon as expected.

On15th July, Pattaya Marathon, kicked off at the unusual but reasonable time of 4.20am in front of Soi 4 on Pattaya Beach Road. The crowd of more than 10,000 runners and athletes from across the globe both from national and international level joined the running. Especially, this year is considered to be another auspicious year as the people of Thailand jointly celebrate together as a nation upon His Majesty‘s the King ‘s 80th anniversary.

The event was divided into 5 categories, long Marathon with running distance of 42.195 km, commencing at 4.30 hrs., Half Marathon with a distance of 21.100 km., commencing at 5.00 hrs., and Quarter Marathon for a distance of 10.550 km., commencing at 5.30 hrs, and finally a Student Category, with distance of 5.00 km., commencing at 06.00 hrs.

Starting and finishing at Pattaya Beach Road Soi 4

It was one of the toughest courses in the country. The route runs that beautiful all Pattaya beach, Mountain and Pattaya Downtown in Pattaya Marathon 2007.

Wheel Chair Marathon: 04:20 a.m.
Marathon: 04:30 a.m.
Half Marathon: 05:00 a.m.

Marathon (Male) Trophies
The Winner, Mr.Joel Kiplimo Kemboi , Kenyan, (2:19:41) received priminister ‘s cup and 200,000 baht cash.
The 1st runner up, Mr.Phillp Kipsang Kipso, Kenyan,(2:23:12) received honorary trophy and 100,000 baht cash.
The 2nd runner up, Mr.John Chir Turbei, Kenyan, (2:23:25) received honorary trophy and 50,000 baht cash.
The 3rd runner up, Mr.Sammy Kiprop Kiptoo, Kenyan, (2:27:47) received honorary trophy and 30,000 baht cash.
The 4th runner up, Mr.Richard Tiropssio Kessio, Kenyan, (2:30:19) received honorary trophy and 20,000 baht cash.
The 5th runner up, Mr.Christopher Rond Chumo, Kenyan, (2:30:38) received honorary trophy and 10,000 baht cash.

Marathon (Female)
The Winner, Sunisa Sailomyen, Thai, (2:57:00) retained her crown, received honorary trophy and 150,000 baht cash.
The 1st runner up, Saifone Piawong, Thai,( 3:00:30)  received honorary trophy and 75,000 baht cash.
The 2nd runner up, Perepelleina Tatina, (3:02:05) received honorary trophy and 50,000 baht cash.
The 3rd runner up, Ketmanee Sanapan, Thai, (3:06:47) received honorary trophy and 30,000 baht cash.
The 4th runner up, Fridah Chepkita, (3:11:11) received honorary trophy and 20,000 baht cash.
The 5th runner up, Rael Cheptoo Murcy, ( 3:12:00) received honorary trophy and 10,000 baht cash.

Wheel Chair Marathon: 04:20 a.m.
The Winner, Akachai Jan, Thai,(1:40:00)
received honorary trophy and 25,000 baht cash.
The 1st runner up, Prawat Warorum, Thai, ( 1:41:20) received honorary trophy and 20,000 baht cash.
The 2nd runner up, Saichon Konjen, (1:43:15) received honorary trophy and 15,000 baht cash.

Half marathon / Quarter marathon (Male & Female)
The winner to the 5th runner up received honorary trophy

Medals : Everyone who reached the finish line as stated in accordance with the Committee’s regulations, in the Marathon,Half-Marathon and Quarter Marathon received the Pattaya Marathon conquerable medal.

Certificates : For marathon athletes, everyone who reached the finish line within 6 hours received a certificate.


The Pattaya Marathon is the Thailand’s oldest annual marathon and ranks as one of Thailand’s most prestigious road racing events. The Pattaya Marathon has distinguished itself as the pinnacle event within the sport of road racing by virtue of its traditions, longevity and method of gaining entry into the race. Many sport enthusiasts from different corners of the world make it to visit Pattaya at this time of the year.
