Jet Ski Racers Making Waves at Jomtien Beach

More than 120 thrill-seeking contestants skimmed across the ocean in various watercraft at Jomtien beach during the Pattaya Jet Ski Club competition. Co-sponsored by the city, the 3-day event featured different categories of races, including jet skis, speedboats and banana boat racing.

PATTAYA – February 2, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]: The 2013 Muang Pattaya Jet Ski competition was launched with a festive opening ceremony in front of the Krua Surf restaurant in Jomtien Beach.

Serving as chairman of the ceremony was Mr. Itthiphol Khunpleum, Pattaya Lord Mayor, who was joined the Mr. Suchart Khunjeng, the chairman of the Pattaya Jet Ski Club. The event was held to promote the water sports among the many interested Thai and foreign tourists who gathered to watch the spectacle.


This year there are 8 categories of races involving different watercraft:

1. Jet ski Yamaha Pla O 650 CC (sitting)

2. Jet Ski Yamaha XL (the rule of 650 CC)

3. Jet Ski Yamaha Baster Open

4. Sport Boat model, 40 horsepower standard

5. Sport Boat (2 engines), 40 horsepower open

6. Sport Boat model, 50 horsepower open

7. Jet Ski Yamaha Pla O (not over 701 CC), dragged banana boat with 3 people sitting on the banana boat

8. Jet Ski Porstoke, 1,600 CC


The closing ceremony will be held on February 3, 2013. The objectives of the competition are to promote tourism in Pattaya and to build the experience of sportsmanship for people involved in the contest.
