PATTAYA – June 6, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; Police Lt. Colonel Prasit Mansri of Pattaya City police station was informed by two Indian tourists that they were fined by a jet ski stand owner after they had collided. The stand owner then called 5 of his workers to surround and demand damages from the two Indian tourists.

Both of the Indians said that they had rented a couple of jet skis from a jet ski stand. They said that the rent for each of the jet ski’s were 150 THB each, as soon as they rented the jet skis they surfed around the sea. When they came back to the beach shore to return the jet ski’s, they were surrounded by 5 men who demanded them to pay 1,400 USD or 42,000 THB. The two Indians collided with each other earlier, making the owner of jet skis unhappy and ordered them to pay him the damages. After the Indians paid the money to the jet ski owner, they immediately called the police as the fine or fee was to excessive, as there were only a few bumps and crashes on the jet skis.

Police have now opened a case and will order the jet ski stand owner for further questioning.
