BANGKOK – March 17, 2014 [Pattaya Daily News]; Pol.Col. Samrerng Amphanthong (Investigation officer of Bang Khen police station) was notified that there had been a shooting incident and that a person had been killed at house no. 29/157, Soi Ram Intra 27, Korean Veteran Village, Anusawari Sub-district, Bang Khen District, Bangkok. He reported this to his superior officer, then rushed to the scene with Pol.Col. Weerasak Foithong (Superintendent), Pol.Lt.Col. Amnart Intharasuan (Deputy Superintendent), Pol.Lt.Col. Phongsurawat Wongsaram (Inspector), officers of the Scientific Crime Detection Division, and rescuers from the Por Tek Tueng Foundation.

The crime scene was at a 2 storey wooden house, and specifically the bedroom on the first floor. The officers found the body of Mrs. Suphawadee Toomsap, aged 59. She wore a white shirt with brown pants and still had her handbag on her shoulder. She had been shot 5 times in the chest. On the nearby washing machine, police found the Colt 11mm with 4 cartridges ejected on the floor and 1 cartridge still in the gun’s chamber. Mr. Thongyen Toomsap the husband and murderer, aged 88, made no attempt to flee the scene, and the ex-veteran of the Korea war surrendered himself to the officers.

Upon questioning Mr. Thongyen, he openly admitted to shooting his wife. Previously, on the evening of March 16, 2014 he had seen Mrs. Suphawadee (his wife) talking with Mr. Park (surname unknown), a Korean national, in an alley in their village. Consumed with jealousy, he had an argument with his wife, saying that if she wanted to talk to the Korean, that he wanted a divorce. Mrs. Suphawadee didn’t consent to the divorce and wasn’t prepared to compromise. Mr. Thongyen then grabbed the gun to threaten her, but Mrs. Suphawadee didn’t think he was capable, so challenged him to shoot her. He did.

The officers charged Mr. Thongyen with murder, and then sent the 88 year old to the investigation officer to be prosecuted further according to the Thai law.
