Commenting on the start of the rainy seasomn or – as the Tourism Authority of Thailand prefers to call it, the ‘green” season – an officer at the centre told The Phuket News, “The winds will be stronger because of the rainy season in Ranong, Surat Thani, Nakhon Sri Thammarat, Phang-nga, Krabi, Trang and Phuket.

“The weather is normal for this time of year, with windy and rainy periods lasting two or three days followed by sunny periods. Winds will be stronger and wave heights are likely to be about 2 to 3 metres.

“Also, please be aware of the possibility of materials falling from construction sites, and billboards and trees falling over.”

He added, “There is currently a tropical depression moving slowly in a northeast direction across the Bay of Bengal. It will probably make landfall in Myanmar or Bangladesh on Saturday (May 24) but it is unlikely to affect Phuket.”
