Isarn Draft Dodger Caught for Selling “Ya-Ice” in Pattaya

A Thai man from Mukdaharn province who escaped conscription ten years ago was arrested by undercover agents for selling ya-ice in Central Pattaya.

Pattaya, August 16, 2011 [Pattaya Daily News] ; Pol. Lt. Wisanu Chaisuwan, Pattaya police with Pattaya Volunteer Police and undercover officers arrested an ya-ice agent. The undercover police contacted the suspect by phone to purchase one gram of ya-ice: cost 3,500 THB. The suspect “Ken” made an appointment with the undercover agent to deliver the ya-ice in front of room 521/234 in Niran Condo View, Central Pattaya.

At the scene the suspect, Mr Wuttisak ” Ken” Asasri, age 29, address: 64 Moo 6 Nikomkamsoi, Mukdaharn, was arrested along with a plastic bag containing 0.91 gram of amphetamines.

After his arrest, the police searched his room at Novagold Hotel, Central Pattaya. In the room, they found his girlfriend and two plastic bags containing 1.72 and 1.18 grams of ya-ice and drug paraphernelia.

The suspect said he was studying at a university in Bangkok. He purchased ya-ice from his close friend, a major drug dealer in Bangmod, Bangkok. He always bought 10 grams of ya-ice per time for resale and for personal use. His girlfriend was not aware of this.

After interrogation the police found that the Mukdaharn court had issued an arrest warrant for escaping conscription in 2003, his case would have expired on Jan 1, 2012.

The suspect confessed that he escaped from conscription about 9 years ago. His case would expire in five months. But he was arrested for selling ya-ice.

The police charged him for possession and sale of ya-ice. Mr “Ken” was detained and prosecuted.
