After being informed of the incident at 4.20 am, July 13, Pol.Maj.Witthaya Yuenyong of Pattaya Police sent investigators to the scene. Arriving at the incident, police found Mr. Kenneth Christian, (30), an Irish citizen, Miss Supreeya Panya (21), his girlfriend, and 7-Eleven staff member holding a Kratoey thief Ms Chokechai aka Gigi,(30), from Chainat province.

Mr. Kenneth told police that he and Miss Supreeya, his girlfriend, had come to the 7-Eleven store to buy some provisions before going back to their room, after a night out drinking. They were followed into the store by, Ms Chokechai, dressed as a woman. Taking his purchase to the counter to pay, Mr. Kenneth realized that his wallet in his rear trouser pocket was missing, containing about Bt4,000 Baht. Remembering the Kratoey who had followed him into the store, he immediately suspected that she/he might have stolen his wallet and glancing round the store, found Ms Chokechai hiding.

Mr. Kenneth and his girlfriend questioned Ms Chokechai and asked to look in her/his shoulder bag, but Ms Chokechai refused and tried to get out of the store. Mr.Kenneth, his girlfriend and the staff of the store, then forcibly detained Ms Chokechai and searched her/his shoulder bag. Mr.Kenneth found his missing wallet hidden inside the bag, but noticed Bt3,000 was missing. He assumed that Ms Chokechai might have given the mising money to a gang member who had already run away. Mr.Kenneth then reported the incident to the police.

Police also searched Ms. Chokechai’s bag and found a number of credit cards from many foreign banks hidden in the bag, probably belonging to other victims. Police also searched to see if Ms Chokechai had a criminal record and found that he had previously been arrested for consuming Yah Bah (amphetamine). Police consequently arrested Ms Chokechai and charged her/him with theft. They are still searching for Ms Chokechai’ accomplice.
