Iran5th August 2010 President Mahmound Ahmadinejad survived a grenade attack that took place yesterday in Hamedan while on his way to address a crowd. The Presidents car was approximately 100 yards from the site of the blast, which Iranian state television have now denied happened.

Earlier in the week, the Iranian President said he believed he was the target for an assassination plot by the Israelis.

The President continued to give his speech as planned which was broadcasted live on state television, making no mention of the attack and focusing instead on the country’s dispute over a nuclear program. He was unyielding to Western constraints that they halt their nuclear activities.

The US and its allies have accused Iran of trying to develop atomic weapons, but Tehran has insisted that its nuclear program is only for peaceful purposes.

At the Hamedan stadium, President Ahmadinejad told the crowd that it will be a big mistake, if they thought that their resorting to lies and making a big hue and cry would be enable them to achieve their goal.
