Announcing Thailand International Jazz Conference 2010

The Mahidol University in Nakhon Pathom has announced that it will host the Thailand International Jazz Conference 2010, the event will be held on the 29-31 of January at the Mahidol’s Salaya campus.

Bangkok, the 12th if January 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: Event organisers have announced that some of the worlds most renowned jazz musicians will converge on the College of Music at the Mahidol University over the three day event. Featured Internationally recognised musicians will include the likes of: Aaron Goldberg, Gregory Hutchinson, Omer Avital, Rich Perry, Harold Danko, Jeff Hirshfield and Jay Anderson. Local Thai jazz artists will also appear at the conference including: Koh Mr Saxman, Infinity, Pomelo Town, Mansri, the Mahidol Jazz Orchestra, and many more.

 

Other events planned for the three day festival will include the TIJC Solo Competition which will give solo jazz artists a chance to win over 100,000 baht in cash and prizes. The competition will be categorised into two divisions; Open and Junior, for musicians under the age of 22. To sign up for the open competition the entry fee will be 800 baht and the Junior competition is 500 baht. As part of the Thailand International Jazz Conference Series lessons and a workshop will be provided by various “Jazz Masters.” In addition to the events and concerts there will be a wide range of exhibits on showcase.

 

For a three-day conference pass, giving you access to all events and showcases it will cost a mere 2000 baht. If you only want to observe the array of talented jazz musicians in concert, a concert pass will cost 500 baht. Student and Music Lover Cardholders will receive a 20% discount.
