Pattaya, 8th March, 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: At 10:30 a.m., Pol. Gen. Nantawut Suwanlaong Superintendent of Pattaya Department, Chonburi was informed that two foreigners have been drugged in room 801 on 8th floor at Markland Hotel (located at One Soi North Pattaya Beach Rd, Moo 9, Nongprue Banglamung, Chonburi). With the information given, Pol. Gen. Nantawut and Pol. Lt. Gen. Krissakorn Tongin Deputy Superintendent of Suppression, police squad and paramaedics team rushed to the crime scene.

At the scene, the police discovered two Indian men in two separate rooms – a 44 year-old Mr. Shiv Shambhv in room A and 37 year-old Mr. Pramod Kumar in room 8. Both victims were found doped and lethargic. They were also robbed by their friend.

The police team searched the crime scene to find many beer bottles and an intoxicated glass. The victim also reported missing items – a watch and 90,000 Baht cash.

After questioning, two Indians told the police that they planned to visit Pattaya for 2 days before going to Bangkok today. On 7th March, at around 10 p.m. both victims went to Walking Street, South Pattaya. There they met a girl, who asked them to come to a hotel with her. Little did they know, the girl planned to put sleeping pills into their beers and robbed all their belongings.

The police enquired the hotel to give them the recording from security camera. Unfortunately, the hotel staff said that the camera was malfunctioned at the time and hence no recording found. The hotel staff did not photocopy the girl’s ID card either.

The police will continue their investigation and questioning the victims, to obtain a sketch of the suspect.
