Pattaya, the 30th of April 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: On Friday, police Lieutenant Colonel Jakarin Tausupap (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified of a shooting incident between local residents in Nong Palai, Pattaya. A team of officers along with rescue personnel were immediately dispatched to the location to investigate the incident further.

Police arrived at the scene finding that the victim, Mr. Panya Tanod-Chaisong [23] a Pattaya Fireman working at Koh Larn’s ‘Coral Island Station’, had already been transported to the Banglamung Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to his back. Officers were able to gain a brief statement of events off a friend of Mr. Tanod-Chaisong who was at the hospital. Mr. Tanod-Chaisong was later transferred to the better equipped Somdet Rachathawee Hospital in Chon-Buri City in a serious condition.

The friend stated that Mr. Tanod-Chaisong had been testing his recently purchased car stereo system in front of his house in Nong Palai when his neighbour had began to complain. It is alleged that the neighbour, Mr. Wongjan Chaisen [55] had demanded that he turn-off his music immediately as it was annoying him and disturbing the other residents. Refusing to bow to Mr. Chaisen’s demands and explaining to his neighbour that he was merely testing the new system Mr. Tanong-Chaisong carried on playing his music,  allegedly at a reasonable level. After several minutes Mr. Chaisen reportedly re-emerged from his house, this time with a .38 calibre pistol, shooting Mr. Tanod-Chaisong after another heated argument ‘fell on deaf ears.’

Following the incident Mr. Chaisen fled the scene and has not yet been apprehended. A witness to the incident explained to police that Mr. Tanod-Chaisong was renowned in the neighbourhood for playing loud music, speculating that Mr. Chaisen had obviously had enough of the continued noise pollution emanating from his neighbours house, deciding to shoot him. “So I guess he had probably had enough. He had enough of the continued loud music, so he shot him,” the witness stated.

Police investigations will now continue in an attempt to locate and apprehend Mr. Chaisen before further judicial proceedings can commence.
