BANGKOK – February 15, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 5 p.m., the arrest of a Nepali man for conducting tourism business without a permit was announced at the Tourist Police Center, squad 1, by Pol. Maj. Col. Bowornpop Sunthornreka, the inspector of tourist police 2; along with the tourist police of squad 1.

The suspect was identified as Mr. Rattana Shakaya, 29 years old, nationality Nepali. The police caught him at the Queen Sirikit National Conference Center, during the Thailand Travel Expo.

Police seized the evidence of 15 tour brochures, and charged Mr. Rattana with doing tourism business without permission, under the 2007 Act of Traveling Business and Tour Guiding.

Pol. Maj. Col. Bawornpop said that at 10:30 a.m., the police had gone to patrol the expo with the staff of the Bureau of Tourism Business and the tour guide registration. They stopped at the booth named “Global Holidays,” and saw Mr. Suprim, who was selling guided tour packages to Nepal to tourists visiting the expo.

So the police and staff members asked him to show them his license. Instead, he just showed the license of the Newspace company and its phone numbers and email address.

After checking, the staff and police found his documents were not valid because they were not written on the expo’s permission documents, and on the expo’s tour schedule papers. So the police detained him to investigate at Lumpini police station to prosecute him.
