Illegal Gold Lottery Ticket Vendor Arrested

Public authorities of Amphur Banglamung have arrested an illegal lottery vendor who sold tickets to win 1 THB of gold. He told police that he had been hired by a gold shop and had done it for over a year.

PATTAYA – MAY 13th 2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 12.10 a.m., Mr. Chakhorn Kanjanawatta (Banglamung sheriff, Chon Buri province) had commanded Flying Officer Porrasit Jiramwong (Chief of District Security Affairs) to inspect the  area in front of the Phet Thong 99 gold shop which is located at no. 65/8 Moo 10 Tambon Nong Prue, Amphur Banglamung, Chon Buri province, after he received complaints that there were lottery stalls selling ticket to win a 1 THB gold.

 

At the scene the officers found Mr. Lert Pha-ngarm, aged 53, who was an illegally lottery vendor selling tickets to win 1 THB of gold.. When Mr. Lert saw the police he quickly  closed his stall and ran into the gold shop. He was then arrested by police  for selling illegal tickets and the officers also collect 1 lottery list book and 13,590 THB.

 

Upon questioning Mr. Lert, he said that he had been selling the illegal lottery in front of the Phet Thong 99 gold shop for approximately 1 year and he was hired by the gold shop owner to sell the tickets. Mr. Lert said that each ticket cost 60 THB each and if anyone wins on the last two or three numbers in a government lottery, they will win 1 THB of gold.

 

After investigation Banglamung officers charged Mr. Lert with selling lottery  to win gold which is an offence according to the Gambling Act, B.E. 2478 (A.D. 1935) before sending him to the inquiry official of Pattaya city police station to be prosecuted further according to the Thai law.
