PATTAYA – August 15,2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; At 5:30 a.m., Pol. Maj. Col. Pratipat Poomlee, detective officer of Pattaya police station, sub branch Dongtal, Chonburi; received a report of a foreigner dying of unknown causes. He rushed to the scene with the rescue team from the Sawang Boriboon foundation Pattaya.

The incident occurred at the Oasis Guesthouse, number 75/14, soi Jomthian 5, Jomthian beach road, moo 12, Nongprue, Banglamung, Chonburi.

At the scene, police found the body of a foreign man, wearing a T-shirt and yellow shorts. He was lying on his side, face down on the ground near the door. His hands appeared clenched, and there was a bloodstain and urine from the body on the floor.

After checking the body, police suspected that his head might have hit the ground hard. His forehead had some black and blue bruises, and his nose was bleeding.

There was no sign of fighting, or injuries on his body from being hurt by others, and nothing suspicious in the room.

A black bag beside the body contained documents that identified him as Mr. Perenyi Ivan Zoltan, age 60, Hungarian. The bag also contained a cell phone and 4,000 baht.

Police questioned Mr. Thanaporn Pimtong, 50, living at house number 72 Nongdindan Bureeram, moo 5, Nondiddan, Nondindan, Bureeram, who referred them to the rental supervisor.

The supervisor said that at 5 a.m., Mr. Perenyi came to rent a room, and wanted to inspect the rooms first. So she showed him several rooms at different price ranges.

He wanted to take some time choosing among rooms that cost 400 baht per day, and paid her. She gave him the keys, and told him to call her when he had picked a room.

She came down to the counter to wait. But after 30 minutes, he still had not called her to say which room he had chosen.

She went upstairs to check, and found him in room A4 on the second floor. He was lying on his side in a pool of blood, apparently dead. It appeared to her that he had fallen and his head had hit the ground, so she called the police.

Initially, the police officers assumed that Mr. Perenyi might have had heart disease because of his age. They suspect he may have gotten dizzy and blacked out, causing the fatal head injury.

The police took photographs and completed the daily record for evidence. The body was sent to the forensic institute to determine the cause of death. Police reported the death to the Embassy and his relatives.
