Pattaya, the 27th of April 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: At approximately 4:30pm on Tuesday, police Colonel Theeraphon Jindaloung (Chon Buri Police Deputy Superintendent) along with Colonel Nunthawut Suwanla-ong (Pattaya Police Superintendent) and a joint taskforce of officers including local Koh Larn authorities revealed the successful bust of a huge drug dealing network that was operating in the Pattaya region.

Having followed the operations of the illegal organisation for several months, the taskforce eventual carried out multiple raids on several known dealers, confiscating various illegal drugs along with large amounts of cash and the dealers possessions. The initial arrest, that of Mrs. Jampa Jitek [40], uncovered an amount of over 1,000 pills of Ya-Ba, 70,000 baht in cash and a bank book. The bank receipt book showed evidence of between 7,000 to 10,000 baht circulating through the account on a daily basis.

Two further dealers, who police had been monitoring, Mr. Ritthiwong Phaphongyun [22] and Mr. Yutthana Wangphlajarern [32] were arrested on Koh Larn in possession of 4.9 grams of Ya-Ice, 7 pills of Ya-Ba and an unknown weight in marijuana. Also confiscated from the pair was an amount of over 70,000 baht in cash, a white Honda Jazz (Bangkok registration) and two mobile phones.

Police interrogated Mrs. Jitek, believed to be one of the key dealers in the network, who admitted openly to being involved with the operation, stating that she had been a dealer in the Pattaya area for over 2 years. Further to her admission of guilt, Mrs Jitek also revealed that she had purchased the Ya-Ba from a larger agent, Mr. Jua, believed to be operating out of the Banglamung sub-district.

The three offenders have been remanded in police custody where they will remain until judicial proceedings commence. Colonel Suwanla-ong stated that police investigations would now continue in order to arrest further members of the criminal network bringing them to justice.
