Huge Gun & Drug Dealing Gang Arrested in Pattaya

Pattaya police successfully apprehended three youths in possession of an AK-47 assault rifle and a large amount of the illegal drug Ya-Ice. Preceding investigations led to a further 7 arrests and the confiscation of a variety of other illegal drugs and firearms.

Pattaya, the 22nd of February 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: At approximately 6:00am on Monday, police Lieutenant Colonel Phasakorn Phaijit (Gendarme Region 2 Investigator) and Lieutenant Colonel Thawin Sukphoon (Gendarme Region 2 Investigator) along with a team of plainclothes police arrested 9 Thai youth gang members. The youths had been arrested following an extensive investigation into their drug and weapons dealing operations in the Pattaya City area.

The 9 suspects arrested were; Mr. Banterng Munghard [25], Mr. Natthaphol Raksaphet [22], Mr. Anuwat Thongsathit [28], Mr. Wirut Trakoonwapee [22], Mr. Jeerawat Janthorn [21], Mr. Anurak Saenphap [25], Mr. Apisit Yuwanit [22], Mr. Mana Sriphong [25], and Miss Suthasinee Ladngern [20]. The gang were apprehended in possession of a range of illegal weapons and drugs, including; over 4000 Ya-Ba pills, 17 grams of Ya-Ice, an AK-47 assault rifle, a 9mm Glock pistol, 2 9mm Smith & Wesson pistols and a substantial amount of ammunition.

Police Lt. Col. Phaijit revealed that the police taskforce had been following the gangs illegal activities for some time, finally swooping to arrest three suspects, Mr. Munghard, Mr. Raksaphet , and Mr. Thongsathit. The trio were apprehended in North Pattaya in possession of an AK-47 assault rifle, ammunition and 17 grams of Ya-Ice. Further police investigations into the gangs activities led to the arrest of another 6 gang members in Chon-Buri, Bang Saray and finally in North Pattaya.

Lt. Colonel Phaijit stated that the apprehended gang was known to be distributing illegal drugs and firearms in the Pattaya City area for some time. He also revealed that further investigations into the gang’s activities are currently underway, in an attempt to halt the black-market operations that are becoming increasingly prevalent in and around Pattaya City.
