Pattaya 5th May 2010 [Pattaya Daily News] Reports regarding the affects of the exceedingly hot weather in April this year states that the water in Mabprachan reservoir is getting lower with each day, with the water for supplying production found to be lacking in Banglamung and Pattaya City area. This situation has resulted from the population living in houses and hotels using the water truck service for emergencies to provide them with up to 2000 litres each day. This service has been used by Fa Mi Ad Kun Village in Soi Siam Country Club, Nongprue, Banglamung and the villages in Soi Thepprasit, South Pattaya. Also, the local residents in Soi Naklua 20 were facing similar problems, having to purchase water from the truck service as their own water is supplied at night only.

Mr. Mana Phatthanasin a villager in Soi Siam Country Club stated that throughout April, he found the effects of the slow running water caused him to leave the container to be filled up before going out to work. However he would like officials to relieve the problem of this situation.

Mrs. Kawao Sebsor who lives in the village of Soi Thepprasit stated that there was no water during the day with some days only flowing from 8 in the evening until the early morning before being turned off. She uses the container to provide water as some other 20 village’s members were also suffering.

The Mabprachan reservoir in Pong, Banglamung is located in 3,500 Rai of land. In summer, the water capacity was at 14.8 cubic meters while the highest level could be up to 17.00 cubic meters. The rain container was 37 square meters and normally the rain volume was averaged at 1,258 millimetres. But in summer it was found to be less than 70% and is dropping fast.

The condition at the reservoir area was found to be sandy with small shells scattered around. When the local residents came to fish and swim the found the water was only 1 meter deep. If it does not rain in the very near future the effect will be very grave for the residents of Pattaya City and Banglamung.
