Hosts International Symposium “Cryotherapy in Medicine and Sport Science” The first in Asia

The Bangkok Hospital Pattaya, in corporation with Zimmer Medizinsysteme GmbH and Filtech Enterprise, hostedthe International Symposium “Cryotherapy in Medicine and Sport Science”, the first in Asia – the ‘IceLAB -110o’. There were doctors; medical professionals, nurses and those interested in attendance from many countries in Asia and surrounding area.

Dr. Pichit Kangwolkij, Hospital Director of Bangkok Hospital Pattaya gave the welcoming speech and opened the symposium.  Several topics were discussed regarding Cryotherapy in Medicine and Sport Science” i.e. Physical and clinical use of deep cold and cold air by Dr. Konrad Boegelein (MD, PhD), Deep cold air application in sport by Mr. Helmut Hoffman and Special indications for cold air application by Dr. Konrad Boegelein (MD, PhD). Apart from the presentation, there were also round table discussion and the chance to experience the IceLAB. The participants were from many countries in Asia and surrounding area such as Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

The IceLAB, Bangkok Hospital Pattaya is the first cryotherapy chamber -110o in Asia. Patients report that the experience is invigorating and improves a variety of conditions such as psychological stress, insomnia, rheumatism, muscle and joint pain, fibromyalgia, itching, and psoriasis.  The effects of extreme cold and endorphine release are scientifically studied. This method of treatment has been practiced in the USA and Europe.
