Hijack attempt on Russian plane foiled: Czech police

11.19, Thu Dec 28 2006, police in the Czech Republic have said a hijacker has been "pacified" on a flight from Moscow to Geneva. The Aeroflot jet made an unscheduled landing in Prague after the Russian captain declared there was a problem on board.

It was directed to an outer area of the airport, where it was surrounded by emergency vehicles.

Police spokesman Pavel Hantak said: “According to the latest information, the culprit was foiled on board the plane, meaning he was pacified, not in the sense of any damage to health.”


Prague, Dec, 28 – Prague airport, where Russian Aeroflot plane A-320 made an emergency landing, has been surrounded by police, RIA Novosti quoted the air company spokesperson Irina Dannenberg as saying. That was A-320 plane bound from Moscow to Geneva.

As Gazeta.ru was informed in Moscow airport Sheremetyevo-2, that was flight 271 that left Moscow at 10.16 a. m.

“According to preliminary reports, there has been a hijack attempt on the crew. At present the plane is in the airport, which is surrounded by police,” Dannenberg noted. There were more than one hundred passengers on board, according to her.

“According to the latest information, the culprit was foiled on board the plane, meaning he was pacified, not in the sense of any damage to … health,” spokesman Pavel Hantak said.
