Hezbollah Ready For Open War!

The fighting between Israel and Lebanon continues to escalate with no end in sight. Sheik Hassan Nasrallah said in a speech on Friday that Hezbollah was prepared for “open war” with Israel.

“You wanted an open war, you will have an open war. You don’t know who you are fighting today. You are fighting the children of Mohammed, Ali Hassan and Hussein. You chose the war to fight against people who believe in their pride. We are ready for it – war, war on every level”, he said.

Shortly after his speech, an Israeli warship was attacked. Israeli Defense Forces claim that an unmanned aircraft packed with explosives hit them, setting fire to the ship and damaging its steering capabilities.

It was later reported that the ship was still on fire and being towed back towards Israel.

The death and injury total continue to rise with each passing day. In the last four days, 63 Lebanese have been killed and another 167 have been wounded. On the Israeli side, at least 12 people are dead and another 100 have been wounded. These numbers are expected to climb as the fighting intensifies.

In Nesrallah’s speech, he also warned Israel not to attack Beirut, or he would retaliate and hit the northern Israeli port city of Haifa, about 30 miles from the Lebanese border.

“I will not tell you any more. If you hit the suburbs or Beirut, we will hit Haifa”, he said. We are going to open war, to Haifa and beyond Haifa. We will not be the only ones who will lose their children and houses”, he added.

It would appear that he followed through on his words. On Thursday, Israeli forces struck numerous sites in Beirut; he retaliated by launching rockets at Haifa. However, Hezbollah has denied firing the rockets.

Israel once again bombarded Lebanon‘s airport and main roads in the most intensive offensive against the country in 24 years. For the first time it struck the crowded Shiite neighborhood of south Beirut around Hezbollah‘s headquarters, toppling overpasses and sheering facades off apartment buildings. Concrete from balconies smashed into parked cars, and car alarms set off by the blasts blared for hours.

Lebanese officials are asking for help from the United States and the United Nations to intervene and put a stop to the Israeli attacks.
