Nong Prue, 5 June 2011 [Pattaya Daily News]: Pol. Lt. Col. Isaranuwat Chongapichaikun (Pattaya Police Investigator) was informed of a gunshot incident occurring at Soi Chaiyapornwithee 15 in Nong Prue.

Santi, 25 died on his way to Bangkok-Pattaya Hospital as the bullet had penetrated his heart.

The gunshot victim’s Honda motorcycle was left in the middle of the road at the scene, an officer said adding that an ID card and cash were found in the rider’s seat compartment.

Witnesses said before the gunshot they heard speeding noises of motorcycles circling the area.

As soon as the shooting sounded, the neighbours came out to witness the incident but the motorbike gang had escaped leaving the wounded body behind, a witness said.

The deceased’s mother, Jamnian told the police that earlier this year her son was involved in a business with an unknown middle-age man.

When the business started to collapse, her son had to borrow money from other people to try and save his business, the mother continued.

Based on their investigation, the police speculated that the subject may have been killed due to his involvement with buying or selling drugs in order to revive his failing business.

However, the officer will investigate further into the case to determine the exact motive of the shooting.
