AYUDHAYA – July 22, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; At 7:30 p.m., Pol. Lt. Col. Kosol Phakahan, inspector on duty of Phranakorn Sri Ayudhaya police station, received a report that thieves tried to rob a money truck in the security center of Samco-Siam Administrative Management, 139/4-5, moo 3, wat Pailing, near Circle Jetiya Sampluem junction, about 300 meters from the police box.

So the police rushed to the crime scene. They arrived at a 3-story building with many rooms in row. The attempted crime took place at a 2-room unit that had a balustrade railing to protect the interior, as well as CCTVs and computer security.

The police found three security guards, standing in shock, and discovered that in the front area of the center, on the ground there was 6 shells of 9 mm bullet casings. Mr. Chuchart Rungsawang, 42, a company employee, said that shortly before the shooting, he had been waiting for the money transfer truck, which was accompanied by two security guards.

When the truck arrived, containing about 10 million baht from Tesco, two men wearing helmets and black jackets attempted a robbery. One man opened the center door and shot the truck many times. But the driver was still in the truck and quickly drove away. A second truck containing another 10 million baht also arrived, and the man fired his gun again to try and force the driver from the truck. But that driver also drove away. The two thieves then fled the scene.

The police found helmets and jackets that the gunmen had left at the roadside. One eyewitness reported seeing two men run across the road and jump in a black sedan, license number unknown, and drive away.

After checking the CCTV footage, police suspect it that it was a planned robbery. The gunmen had known the money transfer trucks had to park at the site. During the robbery attempt, one of them invaded the center while the other waited outside to watch his back.

But because of the fleeing money truck drivers, they could not get any baht in their hasty and violent attempt. The police are investigating further to track down and arrest the gunmen.
