Pattaya, – Friday 22nd January 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: – A very large meeting of the “Hoteliers Association” took place at the Jomtien Thani Hotel and saw the attendance of many hundreds of hotel and accommodation business owners from the Eastern Seaboard. The main purpose of this meeting was to discuss hotel regulations and after these were outlined in a speech, the Nai Amphur of the Pattaya region spoke about his role in these matters.

The keynote speaker was the Honorable Governor of Chonburi, who spoke at length on the fact that some hotels and many apartment buildings were not legally registered. This has led to further problems in that such accommodation establishments were built without building permits or any safety & security checks.

He went on to explain that these illegally built establishments would be given the chance to apply to the Nai Amphur at Banglamung, so that they can become legally recognised business entities. The role of Pattaya City Hall in controlling any illegal building was discussed and also their work in other matters related to the “Hoteliers Association.”

Furthermore, many of the illegally constructed hotel and accommodation businesses had been built outside the zones designated for such activities, which has further complicated these matters. There will no doubt be much discussion on exactly what can be done to rectify these complex matters.
