Pattaya, the 13th of August 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]: At approximately 3:30pm on Friday, Lieutenant Colonel Pratheep Thongdee (Pattaya Police Investigator) was notified of a savage knife attack at the Bunsong Apartments in Soi Yume, Central Pattaya. A team of officers along with the Sawang Boriboon Foundation were dispatched to investigate.

At the scene, in front of the Bunsong Apartments, officers found the severely injured and bleeding victim, Mr. Sell Saelim [53], a security guard, lying on the ground. After some initial first aid rendered by rescue workers, Mr. Saelim was transported to the Banglamung Hospital for treatment. Due to his severe injuries, he was later transferred to the better-equipped Chon-Buri Hospital.

Witnesses to the incident stated that Mr. Saelim had assisted in defusing an altercation between two men in front of the Bunsong Apartments, with the instigator forced to flee the scene on his motorbike following Mr. Saelim’s intervention. Reportedly, the man then returned with a large cleaver/Sparta knife and assaulted Mr. Saelim over his involvement in the aforementioned dispute.

The offender, believed to be approximately 25-30 years-of-age, fled the scene following the attack, heading towards the Sukhumvit Road, North Pattaya.

At present, police investigations continue with interrogation of Mr. Saelim to commence upon his discharge from the hospital. Officers also wish to speak to the second man involved in the initial altercation in order to ascertain more details regarding the identity of the violent offender.
