PATTAYA – March 6,2015 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 15.00 pm Pol.Maj.Gen.Nitipong Niemnoi-commander-, Pol.Col.Sakrapee Piewpanit-deputy commander-, Pol.Col.Pratchaya Prasarnsuk-deputy commander-, Pol.Col.Suktad Pumpanmuang-superintendent of Pattaya police station- and Pol.Lt.Col.Pawatchai Sudsakorn-deputy superintendent of Pattaya police station- were joined by gold shop owners to discuss about security whilst selling gold.

There have been many incidents of gold being snatched in Pattaya and the thieves always attacked the victims and would try to shoot them if they chased them. As a result the police officers asked the gold shop owners to check the ID of anybody who bought gold in to be sold and they should keep a copy of the ID. Also every sale should be recorded on CCTV and if they don’t have CCTV they should get it installed to safe guard against any future crimes.

In addition, the operators have to notify the police if any customers act suspiciously or if the gold is damaged so that the officers can check their criminal history. If all the gold shop co-operate with the new rules it should reduce the crime rate of gold being snatched.
