The Western media have pioneered the recent surge in interest in taking individual responsibility for remedial measures, notably the BBC. One’s Carbon Footprint is the phrase of the moment. It means the amount of environmental impact you exert in your everyday activities.
As the amount of release of greenhouse gases is cumulative, and as we each individually contribute towards their release, we can therefore do something positive to reduce our contribution.

Below are some of the steps you can take to help reduce your Carbon Footprint.

Positive moves:
• installing energy-efficient lighting
• insulating your accommodation
• double glazing
• use solar power
• waste recycling

Controlled action
• walk, ride a bike or take a bus instead of driving
• share your car
• fly less
• reduce your use of electricity and water
