At 02.50 am. on 1 December, Pattaya Deputy superintendent police lieutenant colonel Sutham Chowsritong and his team rushed to the crime scene in front of the Carza Luserna restaurant near the grand Condotel, Pratumnak road, Moo. 12, Banglamung. Police found the victim, Mr. Boris Thoener (40), a German national, waiting for them with an open wound on his face which was covered in blood. The officials rushed him to hospital.

An eye witness, Mr. Somporn Panchana (36), who works at Rooks Garden, said he saw two men attack Mr. Thoener and then speed away on their motorbike. He thought it was just a fight because he didn’t see the whole incident.

After receiving treatment Mr.Thoener told police that he was walking back home from an ATM machine which was located about 100 metres from Carza Luserna Restaurant. There were two men riding a motorbike following him and they stopped the bike and ran over to him. One man held him and the other put a knife to his neck and told him to keep quiet. They managed to take his Rolex watch, a cell phone and cash. He tried to fight back but one man hit him on his face with a gun before speeding off on the bike in the direction of Jomtien beach.

Police presumed that the perpetrators may have robbed many victims before as they had received reports of similar cases. However police would be questioning more witnesses and attempt to bring the robbers to justice soon.
