At 6.20 pm on the day in question, Police Lieutenant Colonel, Jakarin Toasupap, Banglamung Inspector, received a report that a German man had hanged himself in house no. 581 / 21 Moo. 5 Soi Naklua 13 , Naklua, Banglamung, Chonburi and accompanied by the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Team, the Police rushed round to the house to investigate.

At the single house, police inspected the two bedroom, one bathroom house to discover bloodstains on the floor. They also found one room in complete disarray, looking like somebody had been frantically searching for things. When police searched in the store room at the back of the house, they found the dead body of Mr.Burkhard Lange lying on the floor, wearing only white underpants. Around his neck was a nylon cord, attached to the metal roof, with the body in a sitting position. His body had no trace of wounds or bruises. He had been dead for about 20 hours.

Questioning a witness, Mrs. Chai Hasoongnern, a neighbor of Mr. Burkhard Lange, the police discovered that Mr. Burkhard Lange had been renting the house from Mr. Tanasek Tanachokenitinun. He had lived alone for almost a year, but lately, Mr. Burkhard had started to bring different women from beer bars to accompany him.

The last woman he had brought was a woman named “Nong Nang” (48) whom he had apparently agreed to pay 15,000 Baht per month. Although the couple had only spent 10 days together, they ended up fighting everyday because Mr.Burkhard did not have sufficient money to pay Mrs. “Nongnang.”

Apparently, several nights ago, Mr. Burkhard had gone berserk, smashing things up and had even slit his wrist, leaving his bloodstains everywhere, after fighting with his woman ” Nong nang”. Police had been called to calm them down. When Mrs. “Nong Nang” eventually left, Mr.Burkhard kept himself to himself in the house and did not go out at all. He drank heavily every night and it was only when his neighbours noticed that he had not emerged from the house for such a long time that they called the police to investigate.

Police presumed that Mr. Burkhard was stressed-out because of his financial situation, his neurosis and his drinking problems; all of which made him commit suicide. Police reported the details and sent his body for autopsy and they also will inform the German Embassy of the circumstances of his death.
