Gas Tank Robber Finally Arrested By Sattahip Police

As previously reported; The man who had stolen 4 LPG tanks was finally arrested by Sattahip Police officers after he was sought-after for a few weeks. He was reported to have high amounts of debt, which made him commit the theft.

SATTAHIP – July 17,2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; Sattahip Police officers held a press conference regarding the arrest of Mr. Wattana Somsap, age 34, the suspect who had stolen 4 gas tanks from roadside shops. Police were also able to take hold of his Nissan car that he used to transport the gas tanks and to also escape.

An investigation officers revealed that as soon as the robberies were reported, a team of investigators went to look for evidence and witnesses. From CCTV footage, police were able to find out the license number of the car, which made the police able to identify and arrest the suspect.

Mr. Wattana admitted that he was in high amounts of debt after he lost all his money in gambling, he said that he needed the money from selling the gas tanks to pay for his outstanding debt. He confessed that he did sell the gas tanks for about 700 THB each in Rayong.

The suspect is now in the custody of Sattahip Police at the Sattahip Police station, where he will undergo further questioning for his various allegations. He will also be charged for several cases of theft.
