Gang Leader‘S Death Unleashes Bloodshed On The Streets Of Pattaya

Yesterday, 6 November at 2.00 am, members of a young motorbike gang were drinking in the Sea Bar Pub, opposite Xyte Pub, seemingly pissed off with another group of young customers. Apparently, one man in the group was dancing in an exhibitionist manner, trying to impress the audience. An argument ensued and when the man left the pub with his girlfriend, the gang followed and shot him dead in front of his girlfriend and many onlookers.

Police Major Kriangkraiwut Buaklah, Pattaya Police Inspector, was notified and rushed to the scene with police team and the Sawang Boriboon RescueTeam.

At the incident location, 100 metres from Xyte Pub, on Pattaya Third Road, police found a large group of people gathering around the dead body of Mr. Arisman Yamunsapidrin (19) from Nongprue, who was lying on the ground in a pool of blood. He was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. He had a wound from a gunshot to his right temple, and another on his left leg.

A blue Yamaha Nuvo motorbike was lying next to his body. Police collected 7 bullet cases scattered on the ground. A few shops along the road had also been damaged by the bullets. Police registered the damage and all the evidence.

Questioning Miss Suchira Wagertprem (18), the girlfriend of Mr. Arisman, the victim, she said a group of 10 friends were drinking at Sea Bar when they felt a sense of antipathy radiating from a group of 4-5 men, who were sitting at the next table. While her boyfriend was dancing, the hostile group was criticizing and shouting at him to stop dancing. They nearly started a fight but she then asked her boyfriend to leave the pub and drop her off home.

While they were riding along the road, four men on two motorbikes followed them. She said she remembered a man in a green t-shirt pulling a gun and shooting at them. She said her boyfriend then attempted a burst of speed, and tried to ride away but the four men kept chasing them, until they got to the scene where the incident occurred, and her boyfriend was shot and fell to the ground. She then ran away, but could still see that the men had got off their bikes, walked over to where her boyfriend was lying injured on the ground and shot him dead before speeding off on their bikes, heading to South Pattaya.

The parents of Mr. Arisman, Mr. Somkiat and Mrs. Rawiwan, were informed, and the mother fainted when she saw the body of her son. Pol.Col.Noppadol Wongnorm, Pattaya Superintendent, said that this case was very brutal and the police already have the suspect’s details. They intend to bring the criminal to justice as soon as possible.

Note from Editor

Pattaya Daily News recently reported on the unlawful killing of a young notorious criminal and, from one point of view, this meant that the streets of Pattaya might be slightly safer because the victim, Tao Pachajeen, was among the most dangerous men in town. However, this was not to be. Now Pattaya is a battleground, where the fight for succession is taking place. Only yesterday, 6 November 2008, an innocent young man was gunned down in front of his girlfriend and friends for dancing in an exhibitionist manner.

This incident was not actually a gang succession-related crime, merely an occurrence of meaningless violence perpetrated by a group of lawless youth upon a hapless victim. However, it does presage the upsurge of violence and mayhem consequent on the initial death of Tao Pachajeen, with gangs of armed youths marauding the streets of Pattaya, contending for leadership.

Pattaya Daily News tries not to report more than 2 severe crime items each day, in accordance with the council’s request to downplay violence, but we have reported many similar events in the past and feel that trying to pull the wool over the public’s eyes is not the way to go about reducing the senseless violence which increasingly characterizes this city. Rather, we feel that all such incidents must be reported in full to pressurize the Powers That Be into taking some constructive action.
