Sattahip 28th June 2010 [Pattaya Daily News]Following the previous news of the bust of an illegal gambling ring, where Sattahip Police Chief Inspector and his team, arrested seven gamblers and confiscated evidence of Hi-Lo plate, dice and money, the ring leader who gave her name as Mrs Kamonthorn Unjit aged 52 from Bangkok, has now been identified as Miss Thinnakorn Duangsutha [35]. She alleged that she had paid out 40,000 baht every month to Phlutaluang police to protect her operation. Prior to her arrest, Miss. Duangsutha also attempted to bribe the arresting officers by offering an amount of 40,000 Baht to forget the matter.

The incident of her attempted bribery has led the Commander of the National Police to follow up on the accusation of Police corruption.

The offender Miss Duangsutha has presented an apology to the media that she had lied about the alleged Phlutaluang Police corruption in an attempt to keep her from arrest. At the same time, the Police Lieutenant Colonel Chaosiri Bunsiriyothi (Phlutaluang Police Superintendent) came forward to insist that the allegations were untrue and that he had in fact continually attempted to crack the gambling and drug ring in order to make arrests.

On the 23rd June the Phlutaluang Superintendent informed the investigating team that Miss Duangsutha was trying to frame him which left him no option, but to charge her for her accusations.

In addition, on the 28th June, more than 300 local residents of Phlutaluang came forward to support the Superintendent, bringing him and his team flowers for encouragement and hope they will continue to work for the people safety and rights.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Chaosiri Bunsiriyothi thanked the crowd and promised to continue with a fair operation in abiding by the law.
