Gambling On Horses!

Police have detained suspects that have opened a horse gambling business via website.

PATTAYA – September 7, 2013 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 3.30 am Mr Prawit Chaibuadaeng, Director of the Department of Special Investigation or DSI received a report about a group of foreigners gamble at the “member Lounge” in front of Sawasdee hotel Bua Khao, Pattaya Moo 10, Banglamung Chonburi.

30 police officers as well DSI members have made their way to capture the gambling group. When police arrived they found that the gambling group was opened in a four floor high building, the lowest floor is opened as a bar beer. Police investigated and found that there were many tourists as well as Thai cheering for their teams on a live broadcast online that is connected to a 50 inch TV.

After investigation we found that there were 17 suspects that are Australians and two Thai ladies, along with 2,000 baht cash money, gambling schedule, and one TV server gadget. Mr.Robert Steven Younger, 58 years old and his Thai girlfriend 52 years old owner of the place have now been detained by the police.

The investigation reported that Mr.Robert is the owner of the bar and for his girlfriend Mrs.Kaewchai is the person who manages the gambling group. Mr. Robert claims that every Saturday his friends would come to gamble their horses. Each person that wants to gamble on a particular horse will write a number on it and give it to Mr. Robert. However the signals are connected straight from Australia through an online system. Mr. Roberts receives a commission’s from the company no matter whether the particular horse wins or loses.

The police are now investigating the suspect for further inquiries.
