Sattahip, 9th February 2011 [Pattaya Daily News] Surapong Puttharaksa, a.k.a Che, recorded as a major drug agent in the area of Sattahip, fled to hide in Rayong under pressure of the arrest warrant. The governor of Chonburi ordered officials to track him down in order to close his case and proceed with his incarceration. The investigation officials of Sattahip were able obtain information through the link of drug networks and found out that he had left his former residence to hide in Sattahip where he worked with smaller networks.

The event occurred at 00.20 on the 9th February 2011 Mr Wichit Chatpaisit, governor of Chonburi sent a letter to inform Mr. Chaichan Iamcharoen, Marshal of Sattahip that Chonburi had a record of the criminal history of Phuttaraksa, 49, who was a major drug distributor of many networks, and that an arrest warrant concerning many cases involving drugs in Sattahip was still outstanding. The Marshall was requested to find the person in order to proceed with the legal issues and close the case.

Mr. Chaichan Iamcharoen, ordered an operations troop specialised in the area of clearance of drug abuse in the area of Sattahip, led by Mr. Surachet Gaewkam Bailiff of Sattahip, to track the movement of drug trafficking in the district and to obtain further information until they found out that Mr. Surapon or Che, 49, had left his former residence, in soi Thammavithiya 34/13 Moo 2 Sattahip 2 years previously and was currently staying at 132/36 Pla Banchang Rayong . A tracking team was sent to the house, along with an arrest warrant, where they found Mr. Surapon and arrested him gently. As they were arresting Mr Surapon they found Mr. Surapon’s follower Mr Bunsong Bunmachu, 26 ( resididng at 68/1 Moo 1 Sattahip ) getting his motorbike ready to escape. The police however were fast enough to catch him with 20 pills of Yaba hidden in his pant’s pocket.

Mr. Surapon said that after having been arrested by the Sattahip police officials many times before, and having bailed himself out each time, he had to keep selling drugs in order to earn money and pay back the debts he had established by borrowing money to bail himself out. His follower Mr. Bunsong was the one in charge of transporting the drugs to the customers and every time Mr. Surapon or any other of his followers would get caught they would have to go through a rough patch trying to borrow money to bail each other out of jail. This had now caused them to run out of their investment money to distribute the drugs in bulk. They were now only able to sell small amounts. Mr. Surapon had to stay hidden, as he was aware of his arrest warrant, and let his followers carry out the exchanges. He hoped to escape his warrant, escape having to be bailed out, and to escape the court. The police however managed to catch him along with his followers.

Initially, the officials will process the case with charges of the possession of illegal drugs used for distribution. Mr Surapon, who faces multiple prosecution, is wanted by many provincial police forces whose representatives attended his court case.
