PATTAYA – October 25, 2012 [Pattaya Daily News]; at 7:30 p.m., an arrest of a couple for stealing a gold bracelet was announced by Pol. Col. Thammanoon Munkong, Superintendent Pattaya police station; Pol. Lt. Col. Supphachai Phuikaewkham, Deputy Superintendent; and Pol. Sub. Lt. Thawalrat Eaw-vibulkit, Deputy Inspector with the inspector police team.

The suspects were identified as Mr. Sitthiphong Sinklin, age 24; and his wife Ms. Prissana Wongpen, age 25. Police seized the stolen gold bracelet, weight 1 THB, which belonged to the victim, Mrs. Kanokwan Duangdeurn, age 40, from Bangkok, who pointed out the thieves to arrest.

Mrs. Kanokwan said that prior to the theft, she had brought some gold to pledge at the pawn shop in Lotus department store, south Pattaya branch. Afterwards, when she rode her motorbike with her nephew out of the department store, she was followed by Mr. Sithiphong on his motorbike with Ms. Prissana as his passenger.

Mr. Sitthiphong yanked her gold bracelet until it was torn, then escaped with the bracelet on his motorbike. Mrs. Kanokwan quickly notified the police, who arrested the trouble maker on Soi Chaiyapreuk 2.

After his arrest, Mr. Sitthiphong confessed that he and his wife worked as vendors selling fried fish balls in the Thepprasit housing estate market in south Pattaya. He was riding a motorbike with his wife to pick up his nephew at Soi Khao Talo.

But along the way, he saw Mrs. Kanokwan wearing the gold bracelet as she was leaving the department store, so he snatched her bracelet in order to sell it for money. He said he didn’t really need the money, since his fried fish ball shop had enough business. But he just snatched the gold bracelet on an impulse.

After initial investigation, the police charged the couple with an accusation of together snatching and escaping with other people’s property by using a motorized vehicle.

Police restrained the defendant with the evidence to send to the investigation officer to prosecute further according to the law.
