Chiang Mai, the 15th of November 2009[Pattaya Daily News]: Police Lieutenant General Manop Jidjarudphan (inspector of Meeoon), received a report that a female body had been found dead in the trunk of a car in Oonkang, Chiang Mai. Police arrived on the scene to find the car with the woman’s body in it, parked in the driveway under a resort style 2-storey house. Following police investigations they found that the house belonged to a Mr Richard Mair Frederic age 66, of French nationality. Mr Frederic was found to have been a resident in Thailand for over 10 years.

The Police examined the scene and found a trail of blood leading from the house to the Red Mitsubishi where the body was found. It was later discovered that the body was that of Miss Suchada Sitthisarn age 33, of Oonkang, Chiang Mai. The body had been covered with a blanket and had several deep lacerations to the neck and back. There was also evidence of an attempted clean-up, as the ground was still quite wet in some parts. Doctors at the scene stated that Miss Sithisarn had been dead for approximately 4 hours.

Officers interviewed the victim’s father Mr Boonsong Sitthisarn age 50, who stated that her daughter had completed her university studies in Bangkok, later returning to Chiang Mai in order to help the family with their noodle shop. Mr Sitthisarn explained that his daughter had met Mr Frederic and started a steady relationship with him. It was stated that on the evening of the 14th Miss Sitthisarn left home to visit Mr Richard and did not return as usual. Mr Sitthisarn went round to the house of Mr Frederic to see if her daughter was there, however upon arrival he questioned Mr Frederic as to the location of his daughter and was told that she had not been around, despite the fact that her car was parked in the driveway.

Mr Frederic left the scene in his own car, travelling with a friend, in order to go to Meesai to renew his visa. Mr Sitthisarn was suspicious so he decided to return to the house and look through his daughter’s car, using the spare key that he had in his possession. He then proceeded to discover the body of his daughter, ringing police to report the murder. Police learned of Mr Frederic’s intentions and decided to shut down the roads leading out of the city in order to apprehend him and his friend.

After a short time the pair were apprehended leaving the city. Both men were arrested and escorted back to the Meeoon police station, where it was discovered that they both had evidence of blood on their shoes. The two men flatly denied any involvement in the death of Miss Sitthisarn. Police have taken a sample of the blood for DNA testing. Once the results are confirmed as suspected, the two men will be arrested. Following which they will undergo intensive interrogation so the police may assertain the situation surrounding the death of Miss Sitthisarn.
